Bearly Coping

In 2023, like way too many other tech workers, I lost my job. The past year-and-a-half has been a painful journey to nowhere. Applications fell into silent voids. “Ghost jobs” haunted the employment listings. And all the while my employment savings dwindled.

I’m at the threshold of losing my last financial toehold, so I’m embarking on a new and terrifying journey: becoming a content creator. Success means the difference between paying my mortgage and fighting kids for fast food jobs.

The Bearly Coping podcast is about my attempt to create worthwhile things for income before I hit rock bottom. I’ll talk about my own situation, interview guests, and share stories about my early life and career.

Did you know that I’m a second-generation Information Technology worker who grew up coloring computer punchcards with crayons? Or that I lived in Saudi Arabia during the 1980s while my father did data processing for an oil company? I’ve had a long, weird life you might find interesting!

I’ll release new episodes twice monthly on Patreon. And who knows? If you’re also unemployed, perhaps you’ll hear something helpful!
