Holten is an exiled buck from the Cervidian tribe. A’dann is an outcast Arctosi bear-man. Both are captured by humans and brought to The Beasts’ Gaol, a nightmarish prison used by slavers to break their captives. Can they escape together and find a safe haven in a hostile world, or will they spend their remaining days at the end of an overseer’s whip?

Lord Rober Vichy and his mother travel to Enjii for an unusual sort of funeral. They need answers to questions they couldn’t ask the late Lord Ansel Vichy in life. So they enlist the aid of a monk who can obtain them — by eating Lord Ansel’s flesh.
