Both are captured by humans and brought to The Beasts’ Gaol, a nightmarish prison used by slavers to break their captives. Lord Rober Vichy and his mother travel to Injii for an unusual sort of funeral. They need answers to questions they couldn’t ask the late Lord Ansel Vichy in life. So they enlist the aid of a monk who can obtain them — by eating Lord Ansel’s flesh.
